InnoMind Lab – "Learning Design Operation: Co-designing competencies and learning management approaches to create CMU Innovative Changemakers"

ree

Because student development is about empowering children with knowledge, skills, and attitudes, ready to face the world of work and real life after graduation, and being a force for social change for the better.

… The only people who can tell us what knowledge, skills and attitudes are important to children are the relevant stakeholders.

... is the origin of "Learning Design Operation: Co-designing competencies and learning management approaches to create CMU Innovative Changemaker"

The starting point of this design is the Learning Design Operation activity, which gathered feedback from stakeholders of CMU students, such as:

  • Chiang Mai University Alumni

  • Entrepreneurs who use graduates

  • Social Enterprise

  • Faculty from the fields of science, technology, health sciences, and social sciences and humanities

The event was held on August 9, 2025, at Active Classroom 1, Teaching and Learning Innovation Center (TLIC) building. A facilitator team from BlackBox Co., Ltd. participated in facilitating a discussion to gain insights into the expectations, required skills, obstacles, and challenges participants see in developing Chiang Mai University's new generation of "changemakers."

This is the first step in the "Design for Students' Future" initiative, which not only listens to lecturers and entrepreneurs, but also intends to continue to engage with perspectives from other groups in the continuing learning ecosystem, such as university departments, the Student Development Division, the Office of Educational Quality Development, and the Office of Strategy. Each voice will be a crucial piece in completing the picture of "what kind of CMU student the world needs."

InnoMind Lab CMU is developing a "learning framework" to empower Chiang Mai University students to become Innovative Changemakers — the next generation of creative thinkers, social problem-solvers, and ready to transform the world.

Because "student development" doesn't just mean classroom learning. It also involves equipping them with knowledge, skills, and attitudes, enabling them to confidently face the world of work and life after graduation, and with a heart that wants to contribute to society.

🎓 Experiential Learning Design: Listen to the students, the learners are the designers.

Another important part of the framework's development was the opening of a space for CMU students from various faculties to collaborate on designing learning concepts in the Learning Design Operation activity, held on August 10, 2025, in Active Classroom 1, TLIC Building.

In this activity, students helped project images.

  • “CMU students” from their own perspective

  • The future world that we are about to face

  • Skills and qualities you want to develop to be ready for work

  • Including “what kind of learning methods” that truly answer the questions and inspire.

The atmosphere was filled with energy, creativity, and laughter throughout the three hours of brainstorming, facilitated by the BlackBox team, who summarized key points to compile all the information into a prototype of a “CMU Innovative Changemaker” — a CMU student who creates change for society.
